Anabasis

Every time I don't even know how to start this dialogue that we have each year, on this day. My philosophy makes me believe that, whenever you're at the moment, you could read everything in every language.
Seven years can be so long , but not enough for healing a scar.
I'm pretty sure it was in a Marvel comic book where I read something about a bereavement: it's like a scar that, with the passing of time, heals. However, there will always be a sound, a scent, a memory that will recall the past. Every time less painful than the previous one, but you can never heal completely.
That's how I've been feeling since seven years and such as me all whom loved you.
When I was younger, I was used to envy you: you seemed to my eyes a better son than me, closer than me to my father. With the adulthood I learnt that everyone is different and I forgot that stupid feeling.
I didn't forget your last text: so full of life. An exhortation from someone who knew was close to his last days. I'm sure I learnt your lesson, even if I sometimes forget to apply it.
Unfortunately I'm not still strong enough to forgive who put that poison within your veins as well as our hometown and all people who died just for fulfilling their lives. That's why I left. Hope to find that strengh soon.
Thank you for the chat.
I miss you,

L

Perciò me ne sono andato. Spero di trovare presto quella forza.
Grazie per la chiacchierata.

Italians do it better. Part 3.

Hello everyone,
as I expected I neglected the blog a little, so to celebrate my first 2 months in Canada, I'm going to post a new recipe.

This time I tried to ruin the recipe of lasagna with shrimps, and I've managed to do that to perfection.

Ingredients (for 4 persons)
  • 300g of green lasagna
  • 500g of shrimps
  • 1 celery rib
  • a small onion
  • parsley
  • clove
  • paprika
  • 1dl of white wine
  • 350g of peeled tomato
  • nutmeg
  • 50g butter
  • 150g bechamel
  • grated parmisan cheese
  • salt and pepper
Peel, wash and dry celery and parsley and chop them together. Peel and chop onion.
Cook the shrimps, shell and fry them a pan with 20 gr of butter, chopped aromatic, salt and pepper, a pinch of nutmeg, paprika and clove. Add the wine, let it evaporate, add the chopped tomatoes and a cookware of water and allow the sauce to thicken.
Butter an oven dish and put into it a part of lasagna already boiled; cover with half of remaining butter, in flakes, half of the Parmesan cheese and a layer of sauce with the shrimps. Repeat forming another layer of lasagna and sauce, ending with the bechamel.
Put the lasagna in the preheated oven to 180 ° C and cook for 15 minutes. Take the lasagna off the oven and bring to the table piping hot.
Buon appetito.
The result sholud be similar (hopefully better)  of this one.

Ciao a tutti,

I (don't) feel myself Italian

Today is a very important day in Italy because we celebrate the foundation of the Republic after the facts of WWII.
Well, during these days there isn't so much to celebrate.
The main reason are the earthquakes that shook the Emilia Romagna region, where almost 30 people died and many others are homeless. The sad part is that even this time the government decided to increase taxes to afford the expenses for the reconstruction.
I'm not an economist, but I'm know for sure the during the past decades government very often adopted this solution without many sucess.
My hope for this celebration is that finally things will return to work properly, but I'm not so optmistic for the future. Alas.
I've decided to publish a video from a performance of Giorgio Gaber. He was a very important performer who managed to amalgamate theatre, music and satire in his own unique way. Just like him I don't feel myself very Italian, but I'm still attached to my homecountry.
Enjoy it,

L
